A registered dietitian with diverticulosis!

Nov 21, 2024

I am a registered dietitian with diverticulosis.

Yes! You read that right.

In my case, it started when I was a child.

I was known as “La estreñida” meaning, the constipated one.

Nice name, right?

Moving forward to adulthood, I developed the condition and remember feeling the Lower abdominal pain but I was not sure what it was until I had a colonoscopy.

After years of experiencing that and learning about digestive health, my diet is very high in fiber.

I read the research and practiced it.

A high-fiber diet prevents flare-ups – in most cases!

I say most cases because some people have very sensitive digestive system or they have multiple conditions, and therefore they may need a “medium” intake of fiber.

Either way, the goal is to find how much fiber your body can tolerate and stay there to feed those microbes and prevent flare-ups.

Today, I’m sharing my breakfast with you, which contains fiber from several different sources, including coconut yogurt.

Share what stage of fiber intake you’re in and how long you’ve been there!
